Best Hair Routine for Long Hair

Long hair although a treasure to have, requires a bit extra tender loving care! As your hair grows, it becomes more vulnerable to breakage and loss of luminosity due to more exposure to environmental stressors. Here are some of our best curated tips to keep your strands in their best shape – shiny, strong, voluminous, and radiant!

For Washing

Before washing your hair, always brush it out first beginning from the bottom and work your way up (in order to avoid damaging your hair). Use your Leyla Milani Hair Miracle Brush, which will gently remove tangles without causing breakage due to its natural boar/nylon bristles. These little things make a big difference! You’ll want to smooth and remove tangles without any pulling – and this is the perfect device for the job.

Next, take raw coconut oil (unrefined = no chemicals) and add about a dime-sized amount to your ends. Do this either an hour before you wash your hair or the night before. Secure in a bun and let sit. Shampoo your hair twice to remove and always follow with a conditioner.

Note: For additional care, it’s a great idea to incorporate the ‘Rescue Me Hair Mask’ after shampooing, once/week. The nourishing shea butter and argan oil will strengthen your hair, improve elasticity, and add more shine.

For Drying

Before blow-drying your hair, be sure to detangle using your Leyla Milani Hair Miracle Brush! Add a light nourishing oil to your ends as well as a heat protectant spray throughout. To dry, use an ionic blow-dryer like the ‘Blow Me Away Professional Hair Dryer’ which helps to control frizz, while keeping hair healthy and shiny.

For extra volume, dry your hair upside down until your hair is about 80% dry. Also, add a volumizing & conditioning mousse prior, like ‘Revenge Hair’ for a bigger and bouncier blowout.

For Styling

Add some tease! Since long hair tends to be heavier, it goes a long way to add some volume to your roots with a teasing comb. Using your Leyla Milani Hair ‘Big Tease’, evenly divide sections of your hair at the crown and comb backwards to your desired level of tease. For even more OOMPH, sprinkle on some ‘Big Hair Don’t Care Volume Boosting Powder’ to your roots prior to teasing.
