Burlesque Inspired Hair

This look is inspired by sultry character Christina Aguilera played in the film Burlesque! This is an awesome ‘do for a special night out – whether it’s dancing, themed, or you just want to play around with your look. So here’s how to get burlesque inspired hair!

You’ll Need:

Steps:

Note: Freshly washed hair is not recommended for this style, you’ll want more texture for the curls to hold. If your hair is freshly washed, use a light coating of Dry Shampoo over your locks.

  • Brush your hair out and begin by separating the lower section of your hair from the rest and clipping away with your gator grips. You’re going to be working with 1-inch sections of hair at a time. Wrap your first 1-inch section of hair around the 1-inch barrel, holding for 5-8 seconds and then releasing the curl. Always hold the curl in the palm of your hand for a few seconds to set before releasing fully – this ensures a longer-lasting curl. Repeat this process until your entire head is tightly curled!
  • You’ll notice at this point your hair has a natural volume due to the tight curls. But, you’ll want a bit more! Add some additional volume by lightly teasing all over your head working from the roots.
  • Now, going around your head, separate a few curls framing the face to add some dimension. Take the hair you haven’t separated and pull it to the back of your head, securing the hair randomly with bobby pins. Pull out a few pieces of hair from the back as well, letting them fall naturally. Next, gather the ends of your hair in the back, twisting and pinning them upward. Repeat this on the opposite side of your head, gathering and pinning your hair. Ensure that all of your hair is secured in the back, so as to have a messy up-do.
  • Finally, pin a beautiful flower on one side of your head to finish the look!
