How to: Mermaid Braid Hair
This is such a unique and effortlessly stunning hairstyle, with an intricate look that is bound to turn some heads! If you’re looking to channel some inner mermaid, here’s how to do it!
Tools:
- Miracle Brush
- Hair Extensions
- Hair Elastics {2}
- Triple Threat Interchangeable Ceramic Curling Iron
Steps:
- Brush your hair throughout using your Miracle Brush to ensure there are no tangles. Insert your Leyla Milani Hair Extensions (for added length and volume), which is especially useful for this style! Brush your hair a second time throughout with your extensions in place.
- Separate a medium-sized section at the crown of your head, brush it backward and create a ponytail. Once secured, go back to the ponytail and gently tug on the hair around it to create some volume. Next, create a regular 3-strand braid all the way down the ponytail and secure with a hair elastic.
- Now grabbing a medium-sized section of hair starting from the front of your head, take your Leyla Milani Hair Interchangeable Curling Iron (using the 1-inch barrel), and curl this section away from your face. Before releasing the curl, let it set in the palm of your hand for a few seconds to set. Now, take this curl and twist it towards the braid at the back of your head. Once twisted, grab sections within the twist and pull on them in order to fan out the hair. This gives the look a more romantic flair! Now take this “curled twist” and tuck it in the opening above the base of your ponytail. Repeat this exact same process on the opposite side of your head.
- Next, you’re going to repeat the above process with the remaining sections of your hair. The only difference is that you are going to begin tucking in the curls further and further down the braid (sections tucked in the braid should be sporadic).
- Once you’ve curled and tucked the remainder of your hair, you’re going to secure your now larger, voluminous mermaid braid with a hair elastic. Once secured, create an opening above the base of the ponytail and pull your ends through in order to hide the elastic.
