How To Create a Faux Bob

If you want to change up your look one of the easiest things you can do is alter the length of your hair by adding extensions or getting a fresh cut. However, if you don’t want to jump into the commitment of a shorter ‘do you can always master the faux bob—which is the perfect alternative! Celebrities love it and you can easily own the look yourself. Here’s how to create a faux bob:

Curl your hair

  • First, give your hair a nice curl because when your hair is straight it will be obvious it’s not a real bob. You can use the Leyla Milani Hair Triple Threat Curling Iron in the 1’inch barrel which will give you a silky finish to your curls as well. When curling, be sure not to miss any of your layers because your shorter layers become the most prominent in your look, framing your face.

Brush out your curls

  • Next, brush out your curls throughout for nice soft waves instead of defined ringlets. This will also make the layers softer and result in a more realistic look.

Tie hair into a low ponytail

  • Create a ponytail at the nape of your neck using a clear elastic or ponytail holder that is the same color as your hair. It’s important that you create the ponytail right below the nape of your neck because you need to leave some room for tucking in the ponytail, and thus revealing your faux bob.

Tuck ponytail underneath your hair

  • With bobby pins on hand, fold the length of your ponytail underneath your hair. Keep playing around with it and once satisfied, begin to secure the look with bobby pins pushing them upward. You can have some layers hanging out at front out of the bob and even pull on the bob lightly to make it a bit longer if you choose. Once secured, give your head a light spritz of the Leyla Milani Hair Hold it Right There hairspray on level 2 for medium hold.

And that’s how you can easily re-vamp your look with a faux bob!
