New York Fashion Week: Top Hair Trends
At the New York fashion week this September, designers paired gorgeous hairstyles to match their fashion offerings for Spring Summer 2014. Most designers had their models sporting long hair, but done in a wide variety of styles. Here are some of the trendiest hairstyles seen on the runways:
Wet-Look
In a nod to retro glamour, wet-look hairstyling was one of the biggest trends at the New York fashion week. From Herve Leger, Helmut Lang and Monique Lhuillier, to Prabal Gurung and Phillip Lim, the look was everywhere. Hair was heavily wet-gelled or moussed and done in a variety of styles: slicked back at the crown with clips, sculpted to the head in shiny wet waves, or tied in simple pony tails or buns.
Tousled Bed-Head
Another trend seen on many runways was the messy, just-out-of-bed look, some with loose waves or slightly teased. Among the designers to use this hairstyle were Michael Kors, Alexander Wang and Wes Gordon, who used the look as a counterpoint to edgy, urban-chic outfits.
Long, Straight and Shiny
Minimalist designers Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Narciso Rodriguez chose to pair their deceptively simple outfits with just as simple smooth, long and shiny locks. Always a classic look and so wearable.
Sexy Waves
Feminine curls and long tresses were seen on Diane von Furstenberg's catwalk, complementing her always womanly silhouettes. Tory Burch's models sported loose, voluminous hair reminiscent of the 60's, in keeping with her retro theme.
