Hair Do of the Day - Troy Polamalu

When it comes to celebrity hair cuts, most people don't immediately turn to football to find fabulous hair. But unless you've been living under a rock, then you know one man is challenging that stereotype. Troy Polamalu, safety for the Pittsburgh Steelers, is known for his superhuman interceptions - and his full, luscious locks. This is one celebrity hair style that's a cut above the rest. Some fun facts about Mr. Polamalu's famously huge hair:
  • It hasn't been cut in over ten years. In interviews, Polamalu claims that his last haircut was in 2000, when his college football coach made him trim his full curls. We're wondering – was his coach's name Delilah?
  • It's nearly three feet long. The curl in his hair keeps it springy, but when stretched, each strand is almost three feet long. If you stretched the strands out end to end, his hair would be longer than 100 football fields.
  • It has its own insurance policy. Polamalu's endorsement deal with Head & Shoulders led them to insuring his hair with Lloyd's of London for a whopping one million dollars. It's too bad he didn't have that deal back in 2000 when he was dealing with Coach Delilah.
  • It's been mentioned in song. None other than rap artist Eminem mentioned Polamalu on his new album, Recovery. Eminem could stand to take some hair advice from Troy – talk about a hair don't.
However, it's obvious that the best part about Troy Polamalu's fantastic hair is that he has the chutzpah to have great hair in the first place. Surrounded by macho-man football players with awful celebrity hair cuts, his magnificent mane stands head & shoulders above the rest. Even though Green Bay won the big game, the Steelers have Polamalu's great hair on their side. What do you think of Polamalu's famous locks? Are they super cool or just overrated?
